Brooch Part 3!

I bought another antique brooch. It was listed as art deco, but in the item description they said it was really Edwardian from 1914! I love it and it makes a good collection with the other two! Check them out here!

So pretty! I love love love it!

Tin Angels!

My mom and I are frequent craft fair goers and here is the latest from Coppell High School Christmas Craft Fair. WARNING- Some hoarding commenced here. Turn away if you are under the age of 13.

We stopped at the best craft booth I have ever seen. A husband and wife team create the most unique and fabulous angels out of "junk" that I have ever seen.

They use everyday items like old dominos to creat the bodies. On this particular one there were wooden wings and wooden legs  and old keys for heads. All attached by hand with wire.

I absolutely love the legs on this one made out of an old ruler. They have used an old keyhole and brooch for the body and drawer pulls for the head.

There were also letters from old printing press blocks.

This was an old hardback book with a spoon for the head!

They also used old scrabble pieces to spell out a special message!

I was so lucky to buy some of these beauties and bring them home with me!

These babes are made out of antique tins, from tobacco to oil.

This tin is  a Monarch Cocoa Tin! I love the rust on it!

I have a family member with the last name Stewart so they are getting this one for Christmas! It is a metal lid from a jar!

This oval shaped tin I think is my favorite! It is a Mellomints tin and these pictures do not do these babies justice.

Side Mellomints tin view. Notice the 10 cents!

Back view of the Mellomints tin. All attached with wire and screws.

The legs are priceless on this one. Made from an old ruler.

Prince Albert Tobacco tin. I love the look of the tin.

Another old tobacco tin. Raleigh Tobacco.
I cannot tell you how much I love these. Im considering giving some of these as Christmas gifts this year but the hoarder in me just wants to keep them all and hang them some where to watch over my home!

Cottonwood Creek Elementary Craft Fair

A couple of weekends ago my mom and I went to Cottonwood Creek Elementary School for their PTA craft fair. One of the vendors there had the cutest booth and I seriously wanted to hoard everything in that little booth of cute.

It was merchandised so well, I love how the blue matched the blue on the globe.

She had a ton of numbered and lettered items that were so unique!

I loved these mercury glass jars!

I love that oval framed C. Only if my name started with a C!!

These jars are so cute and look so great next to the baseball!

I was so lucky to pick up these awesome items:

Metal baskets, a milk glass footed bowl, and a metal frame.

The baskets have these cute little slots to insert labels.

I still haven't figured out what to do with this frame, but I think framing an initial like this below looks good.

All pieces were so versatile and useful. The milk glass contanier can be used for flowers or for serving food. The frame is going to be cute whenever I figure out what to do with it.

Labor Day/ Birthday Recap

I had the best birthday and a wonderful Labor day weekend! Since my birthday was the 5th, we decided to head to Canton for the world famous First Monday Trade Days! Which is acres upon acres of flea market booths, craft booths, and antique booths. Plus everything in between!
Online I found the cutest little cabins to stay in for the weekend, that were right across the street from the Trade Days. It was called Mill Creek Ranch Resort and it was so nice and fun! I highly recommend if you are ever in East Texas to stay with them. They were so nice and friendly and helpful! They drove us everywhere on golf carts and shuttled us to the Trade Days.

The cabin we stayed in was so cute! It was surrounded all by big trees and a bubbling creek.

Inside had one queen size bedroom and a loft.

We set up a full size air mattress in the loft. Here it is not yet blown up.

The stairs to get up to the loft were so tiny and cute!

This is the view from the back porch, so peaceful and serene.

Here is the view from the front porch. All of the cabins look differently and are painted cute colors. It kind of reminds me of summer camp bungalows! Instead of bunk beds and dirty floors, inside it is an air conditioned immaculately clean cute little cottage!

When we first arrived, after unpacking and ohhh-ing and awww-ing over everything we filled up our cups with margarita swirls and set out on a nature walk. (If you want the recipe let me know!)

We walked around the many ponds and creeks on the grounds.

Abby found a cool old dead tree that she wanted to climb.

I felt like we were really in the country with these old looking electric poles.

Pretty places with gazebos and arbors everywhere!

Elephant ears and creeks galore! Also a fallen tree that Abby thought she could cross. No way!

At the top of the fallen tree that Abby wanted to use as a bridge was this mushroom covered fern surrounded log. It looks like a gnome house from the Gnome Mobile!

Then on Saturday we went to the Trade Days and I snapped a few shots of cool things I would like to own.

Like this beautiful glitter house that Jessica was also admiring! (No, she's not flipping me off!)

This pretty buffet or sideboard table.
(I think it was $350 though, not bad for a marble top.)

A wall of Ball jars! Plus old canisters, and a vintage washing board! So many uses, I would love to have all of them! (Yes, I am a hoarder.)

A cute old childs tractor. I just love the rust color and the old look of it. At $500 though don't know that I love it that much.

A few things that I do now own: These old vintage wooden sleds, one for me and one for my mom. We are going to use them for Christmas decorating. (They were only $20 each!)

This set of nightstands. Perfect for my room re-do. They were orginally marked $159.99 and we got them for $80! Talk about a bargain, 50% off!

We had a fun and exhausting weekend in Canton and we cannot wait to do it again!

Dear Blog World, hold on to your britches because here I come! Love, Swiss Avenue

My obsession has led me to this point. I am going blind from reading the blogs that I so dearly love. I have a sore neck and back from intently studying the before and after photos from Young House Love, the great flea market finds from The Lettered Cottage, the plain as day common sense on 2000 Dollar Wedding, and the hilarious commentary on The Broke Ass Bride, just to name a few.

These blogs amuse me, inspire me, make my day happy, and give me a 25,000 watt jolt of creative energy. I had to give credit where credit is due and include the names of those INSPIRATIONAL blogs that gave me the kick in the blogger butt that I needed. That blogger butt kick was felt with so much force that I am now writing this blog.

In my ridiculous, obsessive, and (dare I say that devils word?) "hoarder" head, I believe that this blog will give me that creative outlet needed in my day to day life. Here you will read about real life event planning; for friends, family members, and people I barely know! I am willing to throw a party for anyone to celebrate anything! I am the ultimate evite queen and love to create invitations, evites, themes, and decor for parties, showers, tailgating, and just about anything that you can call a "gatherin’."

But my obsessions don’t stop there. I'm just getting started! I also search flea markets, antique stores, estate sales, and ebay for one of a kind (inexpensive) antiques and collectibles (aka junk) that I can get my hands on. My head spins and my knees go weak when I see Depression Glass goblets marked for only $1.00 each?! Oh my, I'll take 10!!!
(Insert devil's word here: hoarder.)
